A lot many people use IRCTC Mobile app to book their train tickets in real-time. Once you book your ticket, you will get confirmation message containing complete details of the ticket including your Train number, IRCTC Check PNR status, Journey date, and the class of the seat you have made the booking for.
Recently, IRCTC introduced a universal number facility called Rail Sampark via dialing 139 in order to get information about your PNR status, availability of the seat, fair, date and time of arrival and departure, current running status of the train and name/train number, etc.
This way, you get to know every detail of the arrival and departure, PNR Status, etc of the train by using SMS facility through your Mobile Phone.
This Rail Sampark service is successfully working from past 5 years.
Not only this, a passenger can raise voice inquiry using Interactive Voice Response System or we say IVRS system by sending a message to 139 using syntax specified by the Railway Department.
Let us now see the syntax for using Indian Railway services using Rail Sampark service
Now get all of the INR enquiries like knowing your PNR Status, availability of the Train and Seat, time to depart and arrive, Train Fare, the current status of the train etc. using your personal mobile phone SMS service. You just need to send an SMS 139 according to the format regularized by the Indian Railway Authorities.
- Syntax for raising a PNR inquiry:
- Syntax for raising an inquiry to know the arrival and departure time of the train
- Syntax for raising inquiry to check the availability of the seat
- Likewise, you can get information about the Train Fare, Train Time, on the spot location of the train, train number/Name
If have booked your ticket and want to get information whether your ticket is confirmed or is on the waiting list, then you use IRCTC Check PNR Status service and send SMS to 139 using the syntax
PNR < your 10 Digit PNR Number> For example SMS PNR 2123234456 to 139.
You don’t need to go to railway station to get information about the arrival and departure of any train. You can simply sit at home and send SMS to 139 to know the timings of arrival and depart of the train.
Use syntax AD
You can now check if the seat is available on a particular date or not. Just send SMS to 139 using syntax mentioned below:
SEAT (number of the Train you want to travel) (Date Of Journey in DD/MM/YY )(source STD code of the Station )(destination STD Code of the station) (Class you are traveling in First, second, sleeper, chair etc)(Quota General, CK for tatkal)
For example: SEAT 12345 123456 044 021 SL G
In the case, you forget these syntaxes, you can send SMS to 139 and message HELP or RAIL. This service is available to BSNL, Airtel, IDEA, Aircel, MTNL, Reliance, LOOP, Vodafone, Tata, and Uninor telephone operators.
