No Service Charge On Train Tickets Booked On IRCTC Website
Yes, you heard it right. We have great news for you. Now Indian Railways has officially announced that no service charge would be levied on train tickets booked through IRCTC website.
Let us look at some of the major highlights of this latest news that came as a surprise to many people who book their train ticket on a frequent basis.
Earlier, there was a service charge for sleeper class and AC class ticket booked through IRCTC website but now, these charges are removed to promote train ticket bookings via IRCTC website. This move would definitely promote IRCTC services.
According to our Finance Minister, Shri Arun Jaitley, cashless reservation of train tickets increased to 68% from earlier 58% after this announcement was made in Public. This step would promote our Honorable Prime Minister aim of converting our India to cashless but Digital India.

- Service charge for booking train ticket of sleeper class was Rs.20.00
- Service charge for booking train ticket of AC class was Rs.40.00.
- From now on, no service charge would be charged, and you would just be asked to make payment for the train ticket.
In order promote online booking of train tickets through IRCTC website and support our Honorable Prime Minister’s move of Demonetization, this union budget 2017 surprised everyone by announcing that Indian Railway would not charge any additional service charges when any passenger use IRCTC website to book train tickets online.
Hopefully, everyone remembers the night of November 8, 2016, when our honorable Prime Minister put a ban on Indian currency notes of Rupees 500.00 and Rupees 1000.00.

According to Indian Railways Minister Shri Suresh Prabhu, the Indian government has announced to give Rs. 1.31 lakh crore to the Indian Railways as a part of capital expenditure.
The Indian government has announced to provide additional fund of Rs. 1 lakh crore as a part of safety fund where Indian railway tracks, signals, and facilities would be upgraded to provide better services to the passengers. This budget provided funds for commissioning of Train tracks as well.
